Barnett exit disappoints Reds

Crawley striker Tyrone Barnett has joined Championship side Peterborough on loan until the end of the season and is expected to make the move permanent in the summer transfer window.

Twenty-six-year-old Barnett, who has found the net 15 times during his 33 outings this season for Crawley, could join Posh for as much as £1million when the current campaign comes to an end.

Should he complete his transfer to London Road for the expected price, it will break the record for the highest fee Peterborough have paid out and also for the largest amount of money spent on a League Two player.

Crawley chief executive Alan Williams said: "Our manager is extremely disappointed that Tyrone is leaving but the offer from Peterborough not only met but exceeded our board of directors' valuation.”

The Sussex side will start life without their star striker with a tough trip to fellow promotion contenders Shrewsbury on Monday night, a game they are best-priced 9/5 to win, with Boylesports and Ladbrokes.
