Purches: in his second spell with Bournemouth.
Purches set for lengthy absence
Bournemouth defender Stephen Purches is set to be out of action for nine months after suffering a double leg break on Saturday.
The 32-year-old was involved in a challenge with Rochdale midfielder Jason Kennedy in the Cherries’ 1-0 defeat at Spotland.
He has since undergone surgery but is facing a lengthy spell out of the game.
Physio Steve Hard told the club’s official website: “The surgery went well. He has had a plate inserted and fixed with screws and he is due to be discharged on Tuesday.
"He will be in a cast for two weeks while the scars heal and then in a protective boot after that.
"He will be on crutches for a minimum of six weeks and the initial estimation for a return is six to nine months.
"I am liaising with a surgeon in Bournemouth, who will be taking over his rehabilitation."
Lee Bradbury’s side are next in action on Saturday as they host MK Dons, bidding to get their play-off charge back on track.
The Cherries, four points shy of the top six, are 8/5 with Boylesports to take the victory while Paddy Power have the Dons at a best of 15/8.
Victor Chandler offer 20/1 on the club securing promotion to the Championship this term.
