Peterborough have made the loan signing of Crawley striker Tyrone Barnett with a view to a permanent move in the summer.

The 26-year-old is set to join Posh at the end of the season for a fee in excess of £1million, breaking a club record for the highest fee they have ever paid for a player.

"I am very pleased to be a Peterborough United player. I am chuffed to bits," Barnett told Posh's website. "I have always followed Peterborough, a few mates have come down here to play and love it here and I cannot wait to get started."

Posh manager Darren Ferguson added: 'I am delighted we have signed Tyrone. We have been after him for a while now. He gives us something totally different to what we have already got, which is one of the reasons why we have signed him."

Barnett arrived at Crawley from Macclesfield in the summer, and has gone on to score 15 times in 33 appearances this campaign.

He is in line to make his debut for United at Doncaster on Saturday and Bet365 chalk up an away win at 2/1, while a Donny win can be backed at 7/5 with Victor Chandler
